Frost *rehomed Sept 2025*

Frost *rehomed Sept 2025*

This cutie pie is 1 year old Frost the Japanese Akita Inu. She was out of time and at risk of euthanasia in a dog pound but luckily bagged herself a kennel based foster home. Frost is very much true to her breed. She is 25kg with a stunning bright white coat and pink nose.

She is proving to be a lovely friendly active female who is cheeky mischievous and quirky. Chatting and yawning out loud rather than barking, a thief for “chase me” games keeping her foster mam on her toes.

Frost is fully house trained, polite for her food by sitting and waiting till the bowl is placed on the floor. She takes treats nicely in the sit position and can even do the down position too. She enjoys toys but does loose interest fast.

Frost is very excitable on walks zigging and zagging so lead training is in progress. She is non reactive to other dogs from a distance on walks.

Frost can at times get carried away by jumping up/pushing off you and mouthing. This is probably because of her young age and it hasn’t been corrected enough. Training has started to help correct this behaviour.

Frost is very inquisitive, fast, nimble, quietly confident, strong willed and very much a hunter. She is loving to those she trusts and knows but can be aloof to start with. She initially needs to be supervised in the garden as she seems to be on the lookout for ways to escape. She can be sneaky with this and she can fit through small gaps. If the item moves they are no barrier and obstacle for her.

Frost can be left for 3-4hours and is a good girl but this will need to be done gradually in her new home if she is to be left for this time scale. She needs to feel safe and settle in first.

She travels well in a crate and has been a good girl for the vet. Caution towards other small furries is needed though at vet visits. True to her breed she really doesn’t like female dogs but further tests will be done with male dogs.

Frost is a great young Akita, will so much potential so if you feel you could offer her a wonderful home please get in touch or fill in an application form.
